The Adopt-An-Island program is designed with the local church in mind.
It's all about team work. The main goal is to link church groups to specific Greek islands for the purpose of proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ. The adopting group will take the responsibility to send a team to their specific Greek island(s) during Operation Gideon. The adopting group will also support the team through prayer and giving.
Individuals are also able to join the Adopt-An-Island Program. They will either join other individuals to form an outreach team for a specific island of HM's choice, or join existing teams as conditions permit.
Can't come as a team or individual?
You can still be part of the Adopt-An-Island program in two ways- through praying and/or giving.
Learn as much as you can and pray for a specific island (or islands) of your choice. Help support a friend or Greek Christian to go to an island through sponsoring financially.

PRAYER SPONSOR - What's Involved?
Would you be willing to make a commitment to God to pray for the needs of a specific Island and the spiritual needs of Greece till the end of Operation Gideon? If you are part of an Adoption Team we would ask you to be committed to praying for your team or team member needs. We will send information on your specific Island as well as add you to the International Prayer Team. Regular prayer updates will be posted at the Prayer Connection link.

| FINANCIAL PARTNER: So you can't come but want to be part of the Operation Gideon Team - join an Adoption Team by supporting one of our individual volunteers. It could be someone you know or someone we would link you with who needs financial help to participate. |

FINANCIAL PARTNER - What's Involved?
If you are interested in seeing this project move forward but are not able to come yourself, you can still be part of the blessing by helping to support a participant who wants to come but doesn't have the financial resources to do that. It is envisioned that this participant will likely be a Greek or someone who wants to serve but is in need of financial support (i.e. Eastern European, Mediterranean or 3rd World participant).

PERSONAL PARTICIPATION: Come to Greece and be a part of Operation Gideon. Join a team as an individual or bring a group to one of 80 island locations.
Teams will be linked with specific islands of their choice on a first-come basis. Teams will partner with Greek Churches as they are available for ministry on your island.

PERSONAL PARTICIPATION - What's Involved?
Teams: The heart of the Adopt-An-Island program is all about teams. Teams of 5 to 8 people will target a specific Greek island as part of Operation Gideon. Each team will be supported by their home church or group which will also be part of the Adoption Team. Each team will need a team leader who will be responsible for the team and who will be the communication link with Operation Gideon. Each team will pick a specific island (or Operation Gideon can assign one if desired). Each team will also partner with Greek individuals (or a Greek church) who will work with the adopting team for translating and cooperative evangelism. Information on the island chosen will be sent to your team on acceptance of your application to help your team learn more about the island and to start praying for the specific needs of the island. Team members will be responsible to raise their finances. Ideally, your church will mobilize your team by "adopting" an island with you in prayer, support and encouragement. Once accepted, we can assist your team as it starts planning ways it will best use its gifts to minister on Operation Gideon (music, drama, evangelism, etc.)

Individuals: Individuals will be joined together into teams by HM. While we will seek to honor the individual's choice of island or region as possible, HM reserves the right to assign individuals to islands as needed. Once accepted you will need to raise your financial needs as well as find others to pray for you and to support and encourage you. Individuals will be assigned to an island team in the Spring of 2004. Deadline for individual's application and registration is March 2004.
