The PLEDGE TO UNITY calls for two things:
A. To show to the entire Christian community our neutrality on the issues of ongoing divisions, and
B. To demonstrate to the world our commitment to unity.
Pledge to Unity
Understanding that the primary tasks of Operation Gideon are evangelism, discipleship, missions, and church planting done in fellowship with a variety of churches:
And, whereas many churches and Christians who hold common evangelical faith about the fundamentals of the gospel, also hold a diversity of views about such other doctrines as methods of baptism or speaking in tongues, etc.:
A. I PLEDGE to maintain unity among God’s people, to respect the traditions and teachings of the church with which I will work, and not to teach or debate doctrines which bring disunity. Such views I may discuss, explaining my personal beliefs without any tone of persuasion.
B. I PLEDGE that with God’s help I will try to show the world that our unity and love are not based on any secondary teaching but on the precious blood of Jesus Christ, and that only by accepting His gift of love have I joined His Church and am now a part of the bride of Christ.
C. I PLEDGE that I will try by God’s grace to maintain the “unity of the believers”, and I will seek to honor the concern of the Lord Jesus as He expressed it to the Father in the Garden of Gethsemane, “That they may be one, Father, as You and I are one”. (John 17:11)
After carefully reading and studying the above, I accept fully and wholeheartedly these theological positions. During my ministry with Operation Gideon I will seek to honor the Lord through my faithfulness to uphold the Faith as stated in the above statement.
